I guess I should have taken a 'before' picture. Originally, this was a thin piece of parachutecloth with pale gold lettering. My sister, Heather, had the banner made to advertise her soap and scent business for Renaissance festivals. She asked me to 'spruce it up'. I bought some red parachute cloth, batting etc and sewed it into a quilted banner with gold, trim, tassles, and hanging tabs, as well as gold rope. The real improvement was tracing over the letters with Red shiny paint and drawing and embelishing her logo which was not originally on the banner. The idea was to create a dramatic banner that could be seen from a distance and in an opening parade. Since she sells all sorts of natural and scented personal products and loves the color red, I aimed for a 'medieval boudoir' feel. No one will overlook her sign from now on! I was still finishing the lettering in this photo.
